Oops I Did It Again

My patience for video-making has increased…(see my other whiny video post here) although I am sure most people take less than 4 hours to edit theirs. Also, their camera mount probably did not disappear all by itself (that’s right), forcing me to make this thing (now affectionately called the McGyver Cam) that was difficult to position. …Anyway, I now have two videos I am not completely ashamed of. (Sorry Mum, ended that with a prepostion.) Here’s the first one – an unfinished Ode to 91 Fourth Avenue – hear the weird hissing noise? that’s the audiobook I was listening to while working at 25x speed. Oops. It is also what happens when you keep working through a major heatwave.

And the final, complete Ode to Fouth Avenue, with the drawing complete (and without my audiobook in the background).

“I’d love to hear how they want to solve my painting”

I came across this video a few days ago; I loved it, the casting, the acting, and the writing – it’s funny. Although “Museum-Worthy” is aimed at commercial makers/producers, it speaks to many of us in the creative arts. For any of my artist or creative friends in the industry, you’ll get it.

Museum-Worthy from AICP on Vimeo.

Directed by Brian Billow, it’s one of two that were aimed at members to remind them of a looming submission deadline for the AICP awards. The AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) gives the awards annually in a large number of categories. You can jump into 2023’s black hole here; there’s a huge volume of work to view, and it’s amazing. Awards are given for everything from Advertising Excellence to Cinematography to Colour Grading…. grab a coffee and have a look. It’s way better than waiting for the Superbowl.
